Research In-Situ

Bring your research out of the lab and onto the land.

Our network of Research Stations allow visitors and students unique ecological niches in which to carry out their innovations and investigations. These sites are private institute property and provide a dedicated space for our staff and visiting researchers to immerse in nature and observe the botanical heritage and current reality of a diverse set of both indigenous and invasive species. Each station allows visiting researchers to undertake site specific ecological and design concept development.

The Institute is truly distributed and is now comprised of three stations in the SF Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, and Santa Cruz), and five stations in the Washington DC Area (Arlington, Vienna, Oakton, Alexandria, and Front Royal)
